Favorite Blog Posts for January ‘10
My own writing here at Riding On Dragons was more scant than usual in January, but some of my favorite bloggers were busy turning out great stuff. Twenty blog posts earned stars in my Google Reader during the month; the most since I started publishing these lists.

7 Most Popular Posts for 2009
Happy New Year!
I want to end the year with a list of the 7 most popular posts at Riding On Dragons during 2009. I judge them “most popular” not because they were the most visited, but because they moved people to respond either in a comment or to me by email. In no particular order, here they are:
How Human Organizations Become Inhuman
52 Years To Write A Book (And Notes Of Thanks)
Favorite Blog Posts For November 09
November gone! What with the holiday and a trip to visit my sister and brother-in-law in Philadelphia, I wasn’t paying as close attention to the blogoshpere last month as I usually do. I’m sure some great posts escaped my scan of my Google Reader. Still, these caught my eye and moved me in some way:
Gently Progress to Success

In Praise of Dirt
from Here We Are. Now What? by Terrence Seamon

Favorite Blog Posts October 09
A friend asked how I decide which blog posts are “favorites” for the month. Well…it is all very unscientific and it is all about me. I look at the list of posts in a Google reader, read the ones that seem interesting, and if they provoke some kind of positive reaction in me, they go on this list. The reaction might be something as lofty and intelligent as, “Oh wow.” Or maybe, “Cool!” So these posts have wow-ness or cool-ness (according to me on a particular day). I like easy reading (which comes from hard writing), and posts which offer a different perspective, or tell me something I didn’t know, or remind me of something I did know, or make me smile.
Favorite Blog Posts For September ‘09
Sixteen blog posts prompted me, for a variety of reasons, to award them stars in my Google Reader during September. Liz Strauss and Antonia Hall both caught my attention three times. I’m not sure if there is anything to be made of that except that they are both terrific writers who have been onto things that interested me.
Enjoy!

Favorite Posts For August ‘09
Work stress, fear, Buddhism, butterflies, gratitude, “kicks in the arse,” and more. Fourteen blog post moved me, in one way or another, to award them a star in my Google Reader last month. They are all listed below, and I want to point to three of them for special mentions.
First, Dan Oestreich lays out an entire workshop-in-a-post with Should I Stay or Should I Quit?, a must-read for those who are, “suffering in jobs no longer worth the stress of having them.” If you aren’t experiencing that right now, bookmark Dan’s post for a time when you are.
